The DAM Greening of Qatar Project... It was driving us crazy! No greenery, no grass, no trees, no birds - just stark brick it our back patio area. What to do? Well time to start the "DAM Greening of Qatar Project". With no access to a home depot, it was going to be a challenge but nothing the Burton's can't over come when it comes to "metro-sexualing" the villa.
In the Beginning... ...there was nothing but hot, baked bricks covered in dust with beige walls. We enlisted the help of neighbours and friends to transform the area.
Step #1 First we had to remove the bricks. Now these were packed in tighter than a nun's nasty. It was all hands on deck including Walker who thought this was the best lego set he had ever played with. On removal, all bricks were to washed and stacked accordingly to DB's anal instructions.
Step #2 Next the high quality "dirt" arrived. There was a massive amount and we use the word dirt sparingly as it was really just two guys in turbans who went around the corner and filled their truck up with the first thing they came across and dumped it on the road in front of our house. Anyway it was wheeled around to the back where it was spread out, "de-rocked" and leveled. We were ready for the grass delivery along with some pots, plants and wooden lattice.
Step #3 The grass was delivered in rolls, same guys, same delivery method, same quality - once again it was taken around to the back where it was laid out the care of a heart surgeon. We potted some plants, put up the lattice, got a hose installed, hung some wall pots, got furniture and a slide for Walker...AND
And on the Seventh Day... ..the DAM Greening of Qatar Project was complete. It is now ready for use. We will be having our first "garden party" next week.
